Turning the page is never easy

If he loved you like he says he does,
he would be here, holding you in his arms.
But he got away so he didn't have to face you
and all the pain and hurt that he caused you.
But he came back now, feeling guilty
he just wants to see if you're happy.
But he knows you're not and it's deceiving
because of the way you're treating him.
He believes you hate him and he may be right
but you cannot let go of everything in just one night.
You still love him, that is for sure, but he has to pay
He has to suffer, and that'll be by your hand.
Your poisonous tongue speaks harshly when he's around
which makes his heart tear more and more each time.
You were asked to make efforts.
You were told to be nicer.
But why would you be nicer when he's the one who did this to you?
Well, you thought about it and came to a conclusion.
Everything is not lost. But it won't be easy.
Let him make the first step and ask for forgiveness.
Then you'll see if you decide if you want to act with kindness.
It is not a matter of kindness, after all. 
It is a matter of feeling, emotions.
But don't be so hard on him,
he doesn't deserve it that much.
And at the end, you'll know what to do.
You'll forgive him because you love him too strongly.
You'll forgive him because he loves you too fiercely.
