Two Days Past

Christmas spirit takes its leave
one day past the last of Eve.
And in its echo chambering wake,
our hymns of joy give way.

To playful boys and ringing toys,
whose giver could not stay.
For even saints must take reprieve,
one day past the last of Eve.

And though the trees and trims remain,
and songs of carols fail to cleave.
The world remains a tad less bright,
one day past the last of Eve.

But come the break of dusk this night,
an angel finds the ones who grieve.
And sings to life the trails of joy,
that filled our hearts come Christmas Eve.

For on her eve she lives again,
and reminds us all through thick and thin.
That love lives on beyond the end,
and Christmas spirit lives within...

Two days past the last of Eve.
