Two little dicky birds

I watched two dicky birds perched upon my garden wall
One looked like a Peter so I named the other one Paul
Well I was mesmerised as I sat on my chair
These little feathered friends were huddled up together amidst the chilly morning air
Then as I studied more closely curiosity puzzled me
Was one a girl and the other a boy coz it was impossible to see
Mind you an ornithologist wouldn’t struggle with this question
But I wouldn’t know the difference betwixt and between the sexesÂ
Alas I am ignorant of that suggestion
Though I do realise that some male species are always brighter in colour
Huh that doesn’t seem fair to me when the female bird appears much duller
Anyways this couple of kissing cuties seemed to be in a caressing courtship
Peter and I changed his partner to Paula, had her lovingly wrapped around with his embraced wing tip...
