TWO O'CLOCK NOISES

The drunks singing into their cans of beerĀ
Leave them to it and I must not interfereĀ
Some of the two o'clock noises that I hearĀ

Birds chirping on the pavement soon disappearĀ
Youngsters leaving nightclubs sounding queer
Some of the two o'clock noises that I hearĀ

Taxis honking their horns but the roads are clear
Cats scowling through the bins without any fear
Some of the two o'clock noises that I hearĀ

Ambulance sirens blaring both far and nearĀ
Foxes noisily going through bins soon appear
Some of the two o'clock noises that I hearĀ

I look at my alarm clock and scratch my head
Grateful and fortunate that I have a comfy bed
Two o'clock noises will leave as it's now three
As I go downstairs to make some soothing tea
