Ugly Plum Tree

Ugly Plum Tree

I was out in the garden, i'd been up since dawn,
It was a lovely day so I was cutting my lawn.
Down in the corner where compost used to be,
About six foot tall grew an ugly plum tree.

So I put down the mower and with clippers in hand,
I took to the ugly tree to make it look grand.
Then on a branch, a frog I did spy,
He got my attention from the wink of his eye.

I smiled at him and he smiled back at me,
I no longer saw that ugly plum tree.
I snipped around him and chatted away,
I even saw fit to invite him to stay.

When the day was done the frog was still there,
He looked bewildered and in a fixed stare.
So I took out the camera and got a few pics
The little tree frog just posed on his sticks.

I went inside and hoped he'd stay,
But he was gone the very next day.
It didn't take long for me to see,
Why he had left the ugly plum tree.

That tree in the corner now barren and bare,
I'd stripped it down with out any care.
No leaves to shade, no branches to roam,
I'd taken away the tree frogs home.
