Poem -

UNivERsaL tRutHS

And as we look up
Is it not all, undeniably there
The complete barrenness, all
contained
In the utter lack
Of any care

Each planet circling a star...
Eons from the warmth of the
others
Each orbit a desolate
loneliness
Each small light too dim and
smothered

And might the vast space of
the night sky
Reflect back all our truth
As we circle lone each other
Mere islands lost in age and
youth

And might the desolate and a
lack of any home
Know an aching so lost, know
Such keening of souls
Who only look to seek
connection to
Some truth, as yet untold, for

Can it not be measured
In the empty stillness of it all
This more black than blackest
nothing
Into which I plunge and fall
Alone
