Unselfish Act

Clinical coldness surrounds, as he sits down beside her
Yet in his vision, darkness is all he sees
Silenced by the image now before him
He succumbs to the sorrow, drops to his knees

Head hung low, pained lines begin to form
He raises his heavy eyes and asks "why?"
No response results in anger filled words
"Your ignorance has worked, for now you hear no cry

Solitude is now yours - that's what you wanted
Complications, in unity, we could have ironed out
You're coldhearted in more ways than one now
Stubborn, selfish, you still reek of too much self-doubt"

No sooner had the cruelness left his being
The therapeutic burst of annihilation complete
His trembling body retreats back into its shell
Awkward in every angle, admitting defeat

Looking deeply into the peaceful expression now eternally set
Concentration combined with direction from his heart
An understanding arises between their separate worlds
Such a concrete knowing as to why they had to part

Serenity slowly seeps in, the liquid lead surrenders
Its deadly flow speaking clearer than any words could
A feeling of freedom, transparent wings take flight
Working tranquility into his blood

Closing  his eyes, he remembers the words she'd spoken
"Sanity, in my eyes, is so over-rated"
The truest of tones she helplessly used
"But an inconsistent mind, is dangerously understated"

"Love is still love .. regardless of distance and time
Distance and time are of an infinite scale
Guilt is still guilt .. regardless of distance and time
Therefore - happiness can not prevail ... "
