Unsinkable
She grew resplendent on the docks,
Growing upwards from below,
A magnificent sight to behold,
A luxurious hotel to sail the sea,
Rich, famous and poor all looked on in awe,
"Unsinkable" they said,
But mistakes where made,
Hitting an iceberg below, she slowly sank,
Some saved but most died,
The fascination with the Titanic to be evermore,
Sitting on the bottom of the sea bed rusting away,
A monument for those that stayed on board

I watched a documentary about this actually. Yes, it was ignorance not a tragic fault or overlooked occurence or possibly. Before setting sail, the Titanic had a major engine fire. Instead of delaying the trip as they should of done, fearing their rivals (I belive the name is Northern Star) will pick up more of their passengers, they decided to go ahead anyway. So to as when tragedy did strike, the weakened walls from the engine fire aided the eventual demise of the sinking ship.... no wonder it took only 3 minutes to sink. Disgusting greed costs hundreds of lives. Wonder how many lawsuits occurred because of this incompetence.. Love this poem and all it stands for. Peace to you Tracy
I watched a documentary the other night they said mistakes where made ie bulkhead doors reopened so crew could move easily, the crew not knowing how to lower the boats due to lack of training and the biggest mistake was saying she was Unsinkable. I watch anything to do with the titanic as I cant get over the tragic errors made on the night it happened x
