Untamed Land
These lands are full of dangers Foreign to all of humankind
Where in shadows there lurks strangers
And there is no peace of mind
The flowers there, though beautiful
Could make a grown man blind
And the mountains indisputableÂ
Unless you try and climb
The water in lakes and rivers,
Though limpid, blue, and gold
Hold many things to make you shiver
In the depths of seas untold
But worst of all are all the beasts
Who roam and prowl and kill
On any unsuspecting folk and feastsÂ
As the whale feeds on its krill
Anybody in this landÂ
Is at the bottom of the chain
And will be subject to the hand
In these primal lands untamed
Where bears are all tenfold the size
Of what they are back home
And piranhas in the form of flies
Wherever you choose to roam
Yes, this is a hostile land
Not suited for the weak
It sucks you in like quicksand
So no one can hear you shriek
The climate varies day to night
From ice to burning sun
From burning boils to frostbite
There's a pain for everyone
The pretty things, though pretty
Are things potent enough to kill
And the ugly beasts, though ugly
Will make sure you've got your thrill
I'm here to warn you this land is realÂ
And not the setting of a novel
Not Australia nor Brazil
But something far more worse than awful
You see, this land I have described
Though vast, primal, and untamed
It is not at all concrete but abides
In our minds and unashamedÂ
Our brains are like a primal land
With beasts and poisonous plants
And no matter what we seem to think
Unleashes this expanse
