UP TO THE TOP

A mountain goat got lost one day 
The mountain seemed so far away
was misted by a rainy grey,
all he wanted, was to play
in shades of grey, in shades of grey.

He travelled for three miles or more
(but he wasn’t really  keeping score)
now disappointment lay in store
That slippery floor, oh that slipper floor

He’d waited for this day all week,
he didn’t care the day was bleak
and though protesters raised a shriek
he just said bleeepp,  he just said bleeeep 

No smile beamed from his hairy face
he dug deep and started to climb 
Then down the Cliff side he did slide
down crevices that opened wide
Fear set within those eyes 
god damn, he cried, god damn, he cried 

The goat looked up at the feat ahead 
Gathered his courage 
Lowered his head 
Planted his feet firmly in the ground 
And up the hill his hooves did pound
Got to make ground,, got to make ground 

He slid down once again 
He tried and tried and tried again 
But the sides they were just too slippy 
He couldn’t quite get his footing
The rain poured down 
Small rivers ran across the ground 
Poor old goat began to frown 
He did feel down, he did feel down 

Suddenly the skies cleared up 
A burning sun out did pop 
Out to dry the rain right up
The rivers stop flowing from the top 
And up the hill the goat did trot  
He found the perfect spot to stop
He grazed all day and couldn’t stop
He ate the lot, he ate the lot
