URGE

URGE

I don't understand myself
as much as I don't understand existence
even less death

I don't understand the black holes
the tattoos of time
the ways of dandelions, the dreams of
fear
I have no idea where winds and love come from
and where they go

and how can a whole river
an ocean even fit into a thimble

I only understand the tongue of the stars
that I keep under my tongue
to illuminate the word
struggling to come out
because it has to belong to someone

Hello ET, wow I just loved reading this. The mind does wonder of our place in this universe and existence. The meaning behind it all, which I feel your imagery beautifully conveys how our minds ponder on a subject that is infinitely greater than ourselves. I loved the stars being under the tongue. For they say we are made of stars, and actually there is science to back that up. I could go on about your fab write, but it would turn into an annoying waffle lol. Needless to say I am a huge fan of this wonderful poem, that for me, portrays the frustrations our minds go through, when trying to find the answers to those massive questions

Thanks for sharing

Тhank you, Gwendoline. I am glad you have found something in this poem that resonates with you. It means that the word that has been struggling to escape because it has to belong to someone has found its way to at least one person that has embraced it. Thank you again.
