The View

A lively sun plays hide and seek

on the shoulders of a restless cloud.

The air fragrant with a subtle scent of lilac

.freshly mowed grass stretches like a

carpet fashioned in rich multi shades of green.

The glassy pond hosts a family of talkative geese.

Two elderly men sit pensively together

discussing old war stories and adventures,

not shy about voicing their opinions

on the state of the world today.

A young mother pauses, trotting behind her,

a yellow haired boy, with sticky fingers

 tugs at her sweater.

With a mouthful of cotton candy,

he shrieks as his

red balloon suddenly

makes a clever escape.

.

A frenzied executive chokes down a sandwich

while multi-tasking on his cell phone,

sadly oblivious to the serene,

 tranquil beauty of his surroundings.

A young bride-to-be expresses her concerns

and nervousness days before

  her wedding, while

two ill-fated lovers make a heart wrenching decision.

A jogger breaks momentarily to quench his thirst.

A fisherman stops to stretch then

search through his tackle box.

As the mandarin sunset releases its veiled curtain

a vagrant man surrenders to fatigue,

his pillow fashioned from

discarded newspapers

Tears and laughter, joy and sorrow,

 whispered secrets and confession

 as another day closes

in the life of a park bench.
