Visits With Grandpa
I remember your visits with Grandpa, back then you were just a small pup;
He had a room at Assisted Living, you’d run in and he’d pick you up!
You’d stay on his lap for a while, and then you’d want to get down;
For your nose would pick up a strong scent, of a piece of food on the ground!
Before we’d go in to see him, I’d walk you so you could go pee;
But once in a while in his bedroom, I’d spot you start lift up your knee!
Then out the door I would whisk you, to go back to your favorite bush;
As you walked, you had such a swagger; I loved your cute little tush!
Sometimes he’d come over to our house, you’d greet him right at our front door;
You played a lot and he’d tire, then soon we would hear Grandpa snore!
We’d wake him when dinner was ready; you’d sit by his side as he ate;
For you knew how much that he loved you, and would give you some food off his plate!
Then soon after dinner he’d leave us; his aide would take him away;
But before he would go, you would kiss him, and one last time with him, you would play!
These memories I always will treasure, for both of you no longer are here;
Now you live with your Grandpa in Heaven, you kiss him and stay very near!

I do love this This to the most. It is, as Cherie commented, very touching and emotional. I've lost two grandparents so far, and hope beyond reason that the other two shan't follow. I like the memories expressed in this poem, as they mirror happiness, my favorite emotion.
