Voice
Ears cropped, then stroked with spiked betraying words!
Sullied hoofs, a recurring treadmill found.
Molding feed! wouldn't wish it for the birds!
Saddled; no blanket! ridden into the ground!
Memories of trot and canter filled with joy!
Now marched with indifferent laugh parade.
Bleached banners, demeaning rage to employ!
Idyllic life like; plastic dolls of charade.
Haunted nights of prescription destination!
Mornings fraught with steel joints of flaking rust!
Days, the commands! of free will hesitation,
Berated eve, to receive disdain; I trust!
Humility learned!Β undocumented choice,
Prayers! I beseech Thee! give me hope of voice!

thank you Lorna!
Humans are bastards Jim...that's all I've got to say....really really sad write x
I have family that live in Montana Marion, that love and cherish their horses, and I love animals, but I have seen reports of those that for what ever reason neglect and abuse animals! and I write this to expose them! I so abhor people whom abuse animals, and especially those whom abuse people! So sorry this write distresses you ! most of my writes I so try to uplift! THANK YOU for your support!
such a sad refrain and totally pin-worthy
Much thanks Lisa! means a lot!
clever, clever writing Jim. I am wondering if the horse in this is actually a donkey and that donkey (known as a beast of burden) is actually a metaphor as to what is wrong with the world and how we struggle in it? Apologies if i got this wrong. Brilliant writing all the same x
thank you so much for your support Tina! I am honored by your words! I think it represents all abuse!
thank you so much Greg!
You just reminded me why I so often have little but contempt for so many of my own species .. 10/10 mate no kidding .. NevilleΒ
I hope you will forgive me mate! I really want to be a peace maker, but I have to challenge , or expose wrong when I see it so that the authorities can deal justice! but really, most justice will be in the next life when we inherit the life of laws we choose to follow here! thank you sir Nev.!
You have given voice to the voiceless in what has been presented here Jim.
A real advocate of a poem of the pain and suffering inflicted on those who have no option, opinion or for that matter, an escape.
Proverbs 12:10
A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal,
But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel.
Jim if you ever have the time please view the movie Equus written byΒ Peter Shaffer and starring Richard Burton.
It, like your substantial poem delivers a powerfulΒ and profound message .
Hope all is well my friend and this poet ends with respect to you for writing this.
