waiting my lovers return

Return to me, my heart's lost love, for I love thee more than heavens above,
Thy absence casts a shadow, dark as night, devoid of stars' soft light.
In thine honor, I doth weave a crown of lilies white and roses red,
Each petal a tear I've shed, each thorn a thought of dread.
Thy valor, in battle's fierce array, doth shine like dawn's first ray,
Yet here I stand, in twilight's gloom, awaiting news of thy doom or day.
The oak doth miss the ivy's cling, as I miss thy voice, thy laughter's ring,
Without thee, time's cruel hand doth fling my soul into despair's deep spring.
Oh, let not death's cold hand thee clasp, nor fate our future's promise grasp,
For in my dreams, I see thee clear, and in my heart, I hold thee near.
The minstrel's song, the poet's verse, cannot my boundless love rehearse,
For thee, my love, the universe, could not contain my heart's converse.
Come back to me, my gallant knight, through perils and the siege's plight,
For love's sweet sake, take up the fight, and in the darkness, be my light.
The heavens weep with me in wait, the stars, they dim, debate our fate,
Yet hope doth whisper, 'tis not too late, for love to open destiny's gate.
So I shall wait, 'neath moon's soft glow, for thee to return from the foe,
And in this garden, love shall grow, where once was naught but woe.
For thou art the sun to my day, the compass when I lose my way,
Return to me, lest I fray, in love's eternal, sweet ballet.
