~Waiting for a word (Based on I Kings 19:11-13)

~Waiting for a word (Based on I Kings 19:11-13)

I stood on the mountain
Looking for a word
From the Mighty God of heaven
And He passed by;
He passed by in a powerful wind
Scattering and tearing the rocks asunder
And I became, sore afraid
And I could not hear God in the wind
And with the wind came an earthquake
Yet I could not feel God amidst my trembling
Then a fire appeared,
 And I felt abandoned; doomed,
But the fire suddenly lost its fury
And the ground stopped shaking under me
And the wind fell silent,
And in the silence, I listened
And I heard the voice of a Mighty God
Speaking to me in a still small voice
And fear was no more with me
And I knew only love

Hey Cherie,  thanks for saying that, I always think twice and cross my fingers when I do a write from a bible passage, I don't feel like it's really 'my write' hope that doesn't sound egotistical, because really inspiration can't be explained or controlled anyway, and I'm to lazy to intentionally write anything to be honest, most poems just come, and I try my best to ruin them by over-editing...but yeah, this text has always moved me  and yes it is Elijah, remember how he was so afraid of Jazabel after the great victory at the mount, such an odd story to me, this man seeing a miracle, knowing the power of God and still running like a scared dog, I suppose God was trying to show him compassion, and just telling him that He was on his side both as a friend (still voice) and could manifest Himself in and control the most powerful things of nature ( fire..) yeah I like what you said about how God deals with our fears and doubts;(pull quoted below) I know it sounds ironic, but you have a way with words, my friend....cheers

~~He is the one that knows our soul like none other and will speak when we listen.

Hi Cris,

I am sorry, I missed the above verse. Great write, my applause, my vote

He passed by in a powerful wind
Scattering and tearing the rocks asunder
And I became, sore afraid
And I could not hear God in the wind
And with the wind came an earthquake

Regards
