Poem -

War

Stop the guns

And take a look

At those who have parted

Most of them not even eighteen

When long ago this all started

Silence the bombs

They have all gone

No longer do they fight

They came for their country

And died for their country

And lived through trouble and strife

The pain we see

Will soon be gone

But not for their love ones

For now as we speak

They shall receive a letter

Which will shatter their lives forever

We fight this war to keep the peace

Leaving destruction in its place

Yes we have honour and we win the war

But we will then fight another

More lives lost for the greater good

And we live to see a grand future

But thousands upon thousands

Lie dead in a field so that we

Can live on forever

Honour those who fought for us

And parted with their breathes

For us to grow in a peaceful state

Honour those who were soldiers.
