" Warrior of the Sun "...

Power coursed vividly in her neck and arms and sword
Power made her flesh and blood seem like invulnerable bone
Power shone out from her eyes so bright, none could stare her down
Many tales had been told of her tribe, "Warriors of the Sun",
In a burst of energy she was simply gone
It had been said that this warrior could vanish in the sun
All the tales they told of her were exaggerated , except for one
It's said that she appeared one day in the convenient morning sun, surrounded
by a thousand soldiers that she killed all unwillingly.....butchered them one by one
It's said she wore the colors red and gold, and could vanish into the sky
It was not a noble deed she'd done an errand more or less, for one of the thousand had,
crucified her son, a sun God they eventually came to know, as "Ra" a foreign tongue
A warrior of the Sun, the stories and legends claimed that she had changed her shape
and come into a roaring tiger, and when she left, her son left tucked inside her
Many times a lonely Knight would stagger into town, and speak of her,
As though she were a God, vanishing from the goodness and fighting evil as a blur
She always stood with the sun behind her back, and when any fool would dare attempt
To approach her magnificence, she'd stare at them with eyes aflame, waiting for consent
But none dare go any nearer to her, she'd blinded many men, with just her beauty
And her overwhelming presence, wielding magic was her duty
They even named their gods for her, and called them Egyptians
The sons and daughters of, the " Warrior of the Sun"......

Hey Tina, yes, I'm doing a short series on Women Warriors through old folk tales and legends, along with some historical facts.....the research is as fun as the writes.......I've done 4......I'm going to do 4 more....but the truth about these kinds of writes is that you have to take poetic license because it's impossible to determine fact, from words being passed down for generations......so you have to create, along with conveying researched info........so, I hope I didn't ramble too much.......just having fun with the writes......smiles......tony xx
I'm gonna enjoy all your pieces :) keep them coming ...:) Thats what poetrys all about :).....Tina x
