Wasting One's Precious Time

Last week, I was blue
Because I had to
Contact the doctor's
To make an appointment.
As per usual,
In a world of fools,
I expected a long wait:
Which soon begins to grate.
I could hear on my phone
A banal voice drone.
That I was number four
In the queue and so
I was quite relieved.
I was soon number three
But I was number two
In the sodding queue
For what seemed like an
Eternity. Ad
Infinitum, I heard
What became absurd,
Every time that it was
Repeated, at a cost
To my sanity: 'You're,
You are, you are, you are
Number two in the queue
Number two in the queue..'
The voice droned on
And on and on and on.
Henceforth, I began
To get mad and slammed
The phone down with a bang:
A silly thing to do.
As I had to continue
The whole dumb process
Again. O what a test
Of one's patience, life
These days is! I'd like
To live on a remote
Island: that's no joke!

This may be nonsense as you describe it but it's so bloody true!!! The detrimental effect on mental health of this so called nonsense is massive!!!
Thanks Marion. I should have put satirical/sardonic but I don't think there is an option to put that. Anyway, I pleased you like it, For me, it was very cathartic to compose...ha,ha!
