We Couldn’t Save Our Angels-Part I-Nico

We Couldn’t Save Our Angels-Part I-Nico

         Love at first sight-Nico and Cody’s first day together

On Saturday, February thirteenth, you became a little ill;
Three times you tried your food to eat, three times your tummy spilled!
We thought you had an upset stomach, and on Sunday you would eat;
But you didn’t touch a drop of it, so Monday morning, your Vet we went to meet!
.
They gave you lots of testing, that said your blood cells were very low;
They gave you shots and a special diet, they hoped then would make them grow!
For a while you seemed much better, but as the day progressed;
You grew weaker by the minute, we thought you needed rest!
.
We put you in one of your beddies, on the cool and tiled floor;
In the living room by the lanai, Cody right next to you was moored!
Your next feeding was due at ten p.m., we thought you’d sleep and start to heal;
Then we’d wake you up in two hours, to have your special meal!
.
But a little before nine-thirty, Cody came running to our room;
We jumped up and ran to see you, never dreaming what there loomed!
For our precious little Soulmate, lay lifeless by his bed;
Having tried to come and see us, but collapsed and died instead!
.
We both screamed out in utter terror, our little boy was gone;
How was this even possible, when hours before he walked the lawn!
I almost died myself then, the pain too much to take;
My Soulmate was gone forever, my heart impaled with  stake!
.
Linda gently cleaned his body, we wrapped him in a blanket pink;
We carried him to our bedroom, to cry over him and think!
I laid by him for hours, eschewing sleep to hold him close;
He had a little drippage, and I gently wiped his nose!
.
I turned on music of The New Age, the songs we would always play;
When he and Cody with me would meditate, on the couch where we all laid!
The Sun began it’s coming, as slowly did it rise;
I dried off his moistened body, from the teardrops of my eyes!
.
It was time now for his departure, I was forced to let him go;
To return him to his Doctor, where just yesterday hope had flowed!
I carried him in his beddie, to the front seat of the van;
Then started “My Tears Of Eternity”, which down my face then ran!
.
.
                                      Our Soulmate was gone
                               Our Hearts and Souls shattered
                                          Our tears Eternal
.
.
