We didn’t ask for this

Ukraine

We didn’t ask for this

We didn’t ask for this war,
This annihilation of our cities, town, homes,
The cries of our children, the fear within,
The answers of which we can’t give,
For there are no answers are there?
How do we explain why we had to leave our homes?
The once comforting smell of food being cooked in our kitchens,
The school drawings stuck on our fridges,
Family photos & pictures on our walls,
The drawer where all our family odd bits go,
Those stoic all knowing walls that were our home, our safety…now gone,
We wander aimlessly, no plan, no stability,
All we have we are wearing, these clothes are our new precious, our new priceless,
As we flee the endless ear drum crushing blasts of relentless bombs;
Our children ask why?  why?…….why??
We have no answers…..
We have no words…..
We didn’t ask for this.

Hi Tracey, hope you are very well. This is a great write that captures the despair and misery of conflict and its effect on those who suffer it, lives turned upside down, loss, fear, utter terror and unimaginable grief for those lost.
Peace be with you in heart and mind. x

Hi Tony. Hope all is well with you & yours. Thank you so much. It’s just a heartbreaking situation. How one man can wake up one day & decide to kill innocent people is beyond comprehension x
