Poem -

We Don’t See

We don’t often see
What’s behind closed doors.
We don’t often see
What is theirs and not yours

Hitting, biting,
Kicking and screaming
A fist raised high,
Touching the ceiling

A thump, a slap,
A little love tap,
By someone we care about
But they don’t care back

A fist raised high,
Above our heads,
Sometime we’re awake
Sometimes in bed

There is no one more scared
Than the monster inside
Someone we loved,
Never had to hide

Love is strong
But courage is stronger
We can’t stay in love
Anymore with the monster
