We Left With You-But Came Home Alone

Four weeks ago came that fateful day, that we had feared for many years;
The one we had to end your pain, so with never ending tears,
We called your Vet and said the time had come, as our hearts and souls both moaned;
We left with you sitting by our sides, but we came home all alone!

Now every day we mourn your loss, so broken and totally despaired;
We look for you in your favorite spots, but you’re no longer there!
The only things not empty now, are the sockets of our eyes;
Filled with tears of maudlin morosity, for our Soulmate’s sad demise!
