Oh beautiful for spacious skies

A lovely way to answer Whys

From immigrants that come a far

And claims this land beneath the stars

Carrying baggage of all their worth

Hoping to find this newborn earth

Will be a part of their present dreams

Without past problems in distant schemes

Process then labeled, they're on their way

To settle with relatives which they may

Help find jobs and tools to build way home

And start lives they can call their own

With pictures of the past on their walls

And maybe a long-distance paid phone call

From relatives and friends from over the sea

About what it's like in the land of the free
