A Well of Tears (Inspired by Maxwell, “This Women’s Work”)

I was so wretched when we departed. My world—the color
Of death. And you smiled—the arms of another. You loved
In my absence, addicted to lust. I crumbled—intense grey.
And I die—to ponder strength—a hardened shell. Plus, so
Many regrets: we never dined the sun; and we never had a
Son. But such the glory, a marvelous girl; and such the tears—
To fall the words. Know that I hate not, aloft the brilliance;
And feel free to fly; for death suffocates the breath, and life
Burdens the conscience. My precious swan, enjoy the rose:
Set fire to prose; and forge the magic. I fall—to fathom such
Beauty; and die—to vision such smiles. Imagine God, a vibrant
Feeling; and ponder Christ, the ultimate love. Something
Beckons joy, a yearning soul; and something beckons pain,
A brilliant soul. Feel free to fly, my precious swan.
