‘Wet behind the ears’

I asked my better half “Would you marry me today?” and he answered in a sarcastic tone “Yes my dearest right away” but I could tell by that sly look in his eyes.. that this was just a lie.. I caught him off guard with no time to think.. this would be the reason why!!

Huh forty two long years is a long time to be wed.. listening to one another’s snoring when you are lying sleepless in your bed..then there’s the belching and the passing wind when you are snuggled under the covers..when one is married these things happen fast from when you were just young lovers.. I was nineteen and he was only twenty one.. just a couple of ‘Wet behind the ears’ when all was said and done.. 

Well I often wonder would couples do it all again.. there are those that divorce but still alot who remain..marriage isn’t easy it has it’s highs with it’s lows.. then when the kids come along well one has the bickering blows..so I reckon the pair of us both deserve a special treat.. forty two years of wedded bliss is no mean feat?
