WHAT HAS LOVE?

WHAT HAS LOVE
Ricardo Antonio Garcia
I have fought the World
with my poetic Wisdom and Grace
and honed the blade of my Sword
knowing that I rarely will take a prisoner.
A Knight of the Light
against the darkened eyes
of mankind’s misdeeds.
Tonight
I place my Sword in its sheath
and I contemplate love.
What has love
that it makes someone pain so
as if I intruded
my body with a blade
sacrificing my life
for a metaphoric feeling sublime.
I am forced
to feel empathy over tears.
I am a proud man
striking cold hearts down
walking away
as their bones burn into embers.
What has love
that I am not immune?
What has love
that it humbles me to my knees?
I have slaughter foes in battle
won the Crown
and my esteem is held high
but God I cannot shake
this traveling sensation in my veins
that twists and tortures my heart.
I have fought the World
Now the World fights me internally
What has
a beauteous woman done?
What have I said
that turns me inward in this fate?
She will never see me this way
in a state of tears for love.
God stop this horrendous torture
and this is love?
This – impassioned cry disturbing the rock.
This- demurity and feminine stalk of the wilderness.
Shall I end my own misery?
Or shall I
take her into my arms and float in this abyss?
What has love
that it makes someone pain so?
I pray.
