What is Edgar Doing in My garden?

What is Edgar Doing in My Garden?

like pastels by Degas
soft pink peonies
pirouette in the breeze

long-legged beauties
in lime leotards
hoist too-heavy heads

more amused
than bothered
by frolicking ants

they give impressions
of times other than
Edgar's isolation

imagine the gallery
his exhibit
blooms to life

supple bodies lean
lacing toe shoes
for the next ballet

straightening from plié
they bob & bow & curtsey
after each performance

shake ruffled tutus
in each others' face
playfully teasing

releasing fragrance
subtle as his strokes
without a petal falling
