What Is Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a thoughtful time of year.
It is a time to reflect, perhaps pause.
A holiday it is to sing praises-
To our Lord and for his great cause!

It is a day in which to be grateful,
For his blessings sent down from above!
It is a day filled with warm invitation-
To sit down at his table of love!

Though we may think of earthly food on a table-
In my mind a truer picture forms!
For my Lord's table is laden with grace!
The crop he serves, can't be taken by storms!

For truth, he serves in rich manner!
Hope, he stirs in my heart!
Faith, he asks me to contribute.
Yes, of his plans, I am a part!

Understanding I ask for in measure!
Of strength, he gives me a helping divine!
Kindness, he pours with a steady hand.
Salvation. Praise God, it is mine!

Friendship, he mixes in with a smile!
Laughter! Ah, it's taste is so sweet!
For dessert, none could prove finer-
Than to humbly bow, at my Saviour's feet!

Thanksgiving! A day to become aware-
Of our rich blessings in this land.
Knowing the real treasure is not here.....
It can be found in Christ's nail scarred hand!
