What Love Was to You

What Love Was to You

You told me-
While we were covered in sweat and watching flakes of dust flurry like rain between our sight-
That you wanted to know if i had felt something sweet.
Your mouth opened and closed like a treasure chest with enough wiggle room between the chain and lock;
You couldn’t describe the treasure.
I told you “yes”,
I’d felt something sweet.
Something romantic.
Something love.
And i have.
But i listen to you finally spill-
The whisper, the kiss, the love.
And it meant everything to you
I felt butterflies from your experience of love
This.
What you feel, that’s poetry
When you struggle to create the words to describe it,
That’s love.
