What They Teach Us

Eyes like rain, my decor-less window pane
Loves the excuse to leave a stain
On the rest of our lives inane
Drive us insaneΒ
Causing the horror version of a teenager's painΒ
What kind of loveΒ
Do they teach us in school?
Girls with short skirtsΒ
Following the golden rule
Love is easy
Just choose your fool
Love can be sweet
Love can be cruel
Severity of hearts intertwinedΒ
Are never at their minds
So "love" was a way to pass the timeΒ
Give you a permanent home in my mind
They teach us that love is easy to find
No heart breaks carry hefty fines
No where to draw the linesΒ
Rain dances on that window pane
They teach us love is just a game
Countless boys I couldn't name
Passing by with no true feelings to frame
I guess except for the lucky it's the same
Love is just a type of fame
Replicate to make a name
The Windows drizzled,
it's solid and blank
Just adding one "true love" after the other in the bank
Feelings have risen
They will have sank
I'm trying to be frank
The window is just in another room
I move on, eyes don't hold
No one cares if your heart is gold
No one cares what your momma told
This heart is bendable, will fold
Your love has not sold
Like the rest of us
I'm mentally cold
That is until they teach us something new
Once we get oldΒ
Then we'll learn to fit the moldΒ
