Poem -

What we do for love

I tie knots along your back

pink ribbon like the ones in your hair

careful not to pull on the fragile strands of red that's

laced in with the rose

curling a piece of your mane around my finger

capturing and releasing over and over

tugging gently to coax a smile from those petals

we call lips

tracing those ribbons crimson against snow

blurred vision as I see the lines of torture

ageing your hands and face

I tie knots along your back

holding your ribs together and keeping your heart

intact
