Whatever Happened?

Whatever Happened?

When my plans and aspirations were larger than real life

And I spent all my time waiting for my inspiration to arrive

But those dreams remained in Heaven and my feet stayed on the ground

And when the audience finally listened, I had nothing to expound.

On the streets, in broken visions, a lot of peoples hopes have died,

But MY dreams were never shattered.  I lacked the courage to have tried.

While at work I sat and drew pictures of a masterful design!

I guess they didn't understand me when they asked me to resign.

My success seemed so elusive as I dreamed my life away

And opportunity always missed me. How I long for yesterday.

In my mind I slew dragons and saved damsels in distress.

In real life she asked for money, while she started to undress.

Now I sit at home and watch reruns and dream alone of fame.

There's no one to call and talk to. My black book has no more names.

Yes, that plan for fame and fortune went unused and blew away.

And when I look into a mirror, a stranger stares back these days.

Juan…this is well written and very insightful.  Your descriptive emotional imagery if great!  Unfulfilled ambitions, we all have those.  Excellent write!!!

Thank you so much for your kind words. They are very much appreciated.

I have been reluctant to post my works, due to the fact that everybody on here is so talented!!!!

Again, thank you.
