What's In Your Purse?

What's In Your Purse?

How quaint, did he mean wallet - must be a peasant,
albeit smart, although time stood still, so reminiscent
of times gone by when online banking didn't exist,
however, these stange indiscretions rarely missed.

We could 'purse' our lips, perhaps better to button them
up rather than deliver such obscure rhetoric again;
maybe Percy - what did they used to call you at school,
'Hey Pers, come here - your name is really so cool.'

The cat purrs, a pause in that old zig-zag smile,
as though he'd just been there all of the while,
in fact, whiskers bristled, the thought of alliteraion,
when conversation was delivered without reason.

Did it matter, mad as a hatter, I'm just living in today,
there are other things, not just by themselves per se.
