Poem -

When Heaven Yearns

I vision screen plays and musicals and sugar plums and fey
And diamonds and whispers and firestones and gems; and
Such is love—a loving soul; and such to share—an equal
Mind; and such to play—abed a stream; and such to chide—

A lover’s quarrel. I vision keys and hearts and dice and gold
And pearls and laughs and charms and stones—and life to
Give; and days to sin:—a chocolate cake: a sip of gin; and
Thoughts of grain and pangs and aches and hands of love

And arms of faith; and times to chant: the grey: the blue; and
Dreams to crest—the dress of few; and fields of green and
Screams of lust and trust and tears and times to cuss; and
Such the love—the prose of life; and such the life—the breath
Of wings; and shine and drift and love and burn and feel the
Soul—when heaven yearns.
