WHEN MY BROTHER WENT TO WAR

WHEN MY BROTHER WENT TO WAR

The day was sunny and it was bright

I will never forget that September night

When my brother went to war

He would fight for his country and the king

Killing another man would be his thing

When my brother went to war

My brother a man of just 17 years of age

Was told a battlefield would be his stage

When my brother went to war

He said goodbye to his mum and dad

He would always be their little lad

When my brother went to war

6 months later a telegram arrived from the fields of France

Said my brother died he had no chance

When my brother went to war

Goodbye dear brother you will always be

Remembered for your courage and your dignity

When my brother went to war
