When Nobody Sees

When Nobody Sees

When little girls cry at night
and little boys keep quiet,
their pleas are heard, their troubles seen.
It's only when they learn to hide
and keep themselves unseen
that no-one looks, they're left in pain.
Long days, longer nights
spent in dire agony
in plain sight of those
that would've seen the crying girl
and the quiet boy.
So many lives spent behind locked doors,
watching for jewel-studded skies
they could never hope to reach,
and all because they learned to hide
from dangerous slashing knives.

There are no fictitious, foul mythical beasts that can hold a candle to the horror that pedophiles and those who get off on abusing children inflict on their innocent, unsuspecting victims.
They are the thieves of innocence, the robbers of dreams, the puppet masters of broken dreams...

So many lives spent behind locked doors,
watching for jewel-studded skies
they could never hope to reach,
and all because they learned to hide
from dangerous slashing knives.
