WHEN THE DUST SETTLES

Sorrows and problems will come our way,
Like the leaves that suddenly sway,
Who knows which way they will go?
But take your stand, regardless of the river's flow.

One day, you will find out who your friends are,
When times are tough and life feels bizarre.
Those who stand by you through thick and thin,
Those are the ones who truly win.

Friends are the ones who never walk away,
They stand with you, come what may
They lift you when you're feeling low,
And help you grow and make you glow.

But be aware of those with hidden intent
Whose loyalty is like yesterday, already spent
Waiting for an excuse to slip away,
When trials and tribulations come your way.

One day, you'll discover who your true friends are,
Standing with you in battle, to the death, or with scars
There will be no mistakes, in the end, you will know
Because pretenders and fake friends 
Will flee like the driven snow.
