Poem -

WHEN THE ROBIN SINGS

Love cannot be hidden

WHEN THE ROBIN SINGS

An Angel he sends from heaven's throne
to Earth's domain shack for a home
but within its walls of unpeeled pine trees
his future wife lies fast asleep.

Gravity pulls their heartstrings ever so slowly
both being unaware of each other's life story
but as faith would have it, both prayers were answered
this mild-mannered country girl
and the bird-watching nerd.

Following the ensemble of blackbirds and robins
the nerd leaves his home
through the dense fog of the morning
softly walking on falling leaves
with his eyes fixed on the Choir in the trees.

It was as though they were leading him
to the cabin in the woods,
as they Walz through the branches
singing a variety of songs as they go.

Suddenly, like a rainbow display
in the clearing sky
there she was standing,
With stardust sprinkled in her eyes.

And just like magic, the birds flew away
leaving him transfixed and in a daze,
from that moment in time
his bird-watching days were over
as he embraced his answered prayer
And forever lover.

Wilford Barker.
