WHERE DID MY LOVE GO

WHERE DID MY LOVE GO

WHERE DID MY LOVE GO,
I HAVE BECKONED ONTO THEE,
BUT MY VOICE HAS NOT REACHED THINE EAR,
THOUGH I SING SO SWEETLY MY MAIDENS NAME,
HER FACE, I DO NOT SEE.

HOW MY HEART ACHES FOR YOU, MY LOVE,
SUCH PAIN IS UNBEARABLE FOR ME
MY EYES ARE FLOODED WITH STREAMS OF TEARS
WHERE CAN MY LOVE BE.

HEAR O SUN, MY CRY FROM BENEATH,
PLEASE SCAN THE EARTH FOR ME,
AND SPEAK TO THE WIND
MY DEAR OLD FRIEND
FOR I PUT MY TRUST IN THEE.

LET NOT THE NIGHT
TAKE AWAY MY SIGHT
BEFORE I EMBRACE MY LOVE,
AND THESE LIPS OF CLAY
WILL CONTINUE IN PRAYER
FOR THE LOVE GOD HAS SENT ME
FROM ABOVE.

WILFORD BARKER.
