Where I'm From
I come from a place where the old mixes with the new,
Where one can study the beauty of a dying language,
Where there's a possibility of snow almost all year round,
On an island where the lush vegetation is breath-taking.
The flowers, oh the flowers!
Daffodils, Buttercups and Daisies dot the landscape like the pieces of a mosaic,
A lone fox scours the landscape in search of a meal,
Inside her den whine three hungry cubs,
While she is exhausted, she endures, as she knows it is up to her now to feed her young,
Her partner gone, taken as a trophy of a good hunt.
In the town, children with the hope of a bright future, dance late into the night, unaware of the world around them,
However, beauty is often a concealer, used by those who which to suffer in silence,
I come from a place where the tiniest bit of empathy and kindness can make a difference.
