Poem -

Which madness would you choose?

Which madness would you choose?

Old eyes twinkling
staring into a long lost place
mysteries and memories of nearly 100 years
Secrets kept hidden by smiling face
A key was lost very gradually The past erased
like the cliff by the sea
The sand very slowly
Carried away
By wild waves
To a far away place
No ones left nowΒ
No one to tell
A lifetime wiped outΒ
All that's left Is like an echoing bell
Family, friends loved ones disappear
no recall
Nothing familiar
Nothing at all
No recognitionΒ
Everyone's a stranger
Afraid of a shadow
No awareness of danger Everything wiped,Β
not one memory left
Not of her favourite scent
Or a once precious gift
No conversation
No special stories to share Just anxiety, panic
Cos I don't live here
Which do you think?
Which curse do you fear most?
Loosing your mind
Or living in a body that's just a host
having your thoughts
And Distinct memories
All fresh and intact
A Perfect knowledge of what is
But no way to talk,
move or communicate
Trapped in a lifeless body
That just permanently aches
If you had a choice
What would it be?
Which madness do you fear most?
And would you want choose when your soul was set free?

I have a clear diagnosis of Parkinson'sΒ
and my rock has been told as both his parents had Alzheimer's,Β  he has 74% chance of getting it. More since he suffered a haemmoragic stroke.Β
