Poem -

Who Crushed the Yellow Rose?

Who Crushed the Yellow Rose?

Tell me, who crushed the yellow rose…
she gave her heart to you to hold
and held yours like a precious song
which for you she quietly composed.
Why did you neglect her petals
and let the wind to take what matters?
     There is no other rose
who will love you with all her might…
no red, blue, pink or white
will ever hold your heart like she did,
yet, she was left in the cold rain
wondering if she’d ever be loved again.
Next time you see the yellow rose
pick her up, kiss her tender and hold her close.
     Sure, you’ll find another one
     in the garden of roses
but not like the one you let go
     --the loveliest of them all.

Brilliantly delivered Bernadete. There's a great tragedy in this abandonment of love and companionship. Whether this reflects the heart wrenched by the hand of another or the self inflicted loss of joy or hope.

I like the metaphor of the yellow rose. Is there a significance to the colour? I really like the line "and let the wind take what really matters." This being the petals I assume. As a poem about what I interpret as unconditional love it is brilliant.

I really like your interpretation. Unconditional love, yes, that's it. A significance to the colour? not really, a rose represent love and I
had a feeling for the yellow one. Good question!
Much appreciated you taking your time to read this, I always look forward
to receiving your thoughts. Cheers Bernie.  B

In my mind, Yellow Rose is a pretty tender woman with a decent heart.
Seriously, I think we men here should understand how sad a woman feels when we drop and abandoned her like an empty can in the cafeteria. And later, karma comes for us with a Black Rose in a white dress.
May God help us all.

You said the most beautiful words here, Isaac. Petals of flowers spilled from your heart when you said that. You are a good man.
