WHY HAVE THEY TAKEN MY BABY AWAY?

In my belly for nine months and a little more
Made an appearance when ready for sure 
I cared for my little one day after day 
Why then have they taken my baby away ?

Saw the first steps and the very first smile
My baby had it all poise, grace and style 
Enjoyed watching my baby sleep and at play
Why then have they taken my baby away ?

I gave my baby a name she was Emily to me
The birth was hard as it was back in 1933
Thought she'd be mine until I was old and gray
Why then have they taken my baby away ?

The answer to my question made me cry 
All I could think of was why God why 
Someone would be guilty I would make them pay
Why then have they taken my baby away ?
