Will You Watch Over Me

Will You Watch Over Me
There’s nothing but a driving cold steel rain
Hear the haunting whistle of a runaway train
I have grown much too tired for sleep
But there are many promises I must keep
I long for the promise of a sunny day
I would feel so blessed if it came my way
Fell that I am drowning in this pouring rain
My hopes and dreams go down the drain
The days are growing short and the nights long
Wish I could find a place where I could belong
Lord deliver me from beyond all of this darkness
Past all of the pools of those who are heartless
Let my ever restless spirit simply soar
Guide me away from those who ask more
Let the endless rain wash away all of my sins
Take me to the river where new hope begins
Allow my tormented soul to forever freely fly
Let me build heavenly castles in the blue sky
I want to live out the rest of my days in the sun
Allow my body, mind and spirit to become one
Let the wind take this once heart of stone
Carry it to a place where it won’t be all alone
Want to leave this broken life behind me
On the pathway of life I want to be free
Lay me down in a tender place of care and love
Lord will you watch over me from up above

Powerful poetry Gary, I believe in a god, just not of matter, not of form but everything and nothing, existing within light and love, within ourselves. Keep strong and scream, God will hear you.
Thank You Gerard I am happy you enjoyed my poem...Gary
