WIMBLEDON, MARION & ME

WIMBLEDON, MARION & ME

Wimbledon is nearly here again and I can't wait
Here in this poem you will find out why its great
I first visited this place in 1993
Mary Joe Fernandez was the first match I did see

I have returned to Wimbledon every year since
Treated to tennis royally like a King or prince
I am hooked on the women's game
So many matches and players to name

One player of course stands out from the crowd
A French player called Marion made me proud
I followed this lady since her junior days
Me thinks there was something unique in the way she plays

In 2013 Marion's dreams were reliased
Lifting the trophy brought tears to my eyes
It was a great journey Marion but now you have retired from the game
Wimbledon goes on, I will be there, but for me not quite the same
