WINNIE

WINNIE

A lady in South Africa died today
I am at a loss at what to say
She was a campaigner for justice and equality
Something which is very dear to me

Winnie Mandela was this wonderful ladies name
Her courage and bravery put others to shame
She fought for what she believed both fair and right
Trying to bring her country together day and night

I hope this remarkable lady will not be forgotten
A woman who was always there for the poor and down trodden

I am at a loss too my friend!!.... It is so kind of you to shine the sullen/melancholy spotlight on her this way..... your heart is kind...... and your worldliness.... obviously astute......I feel honored to know you, cyber-world though it may be...... as I am sure much of the rest of the world is feeling honored that they knew or were touched by her as well!!.......I am your cyber-friend and admirer!!......thanx for sharing this dear poet brother.... perhaps someone will read and find the wherewithal to look her up and find out what she has done for the world they live in!!....... Kings to you KIERAN!!...... peace.......T xo

Hi Tony

I too am honoured and proud to know you through cyber space !
Winnie was in many ways over shadowded by Nelson I think but shouldnever be forgotten.
I am completely blown away that you admire my work from afar ...I use only simple words and verses (so simple in fact that even I can understand them !)
I love this site to share my love and desperatly want to see them in print one day before I leave this mortal coil

Peace and joy

Hi Cherie

Your kind words and comments inspire me to keep writing. I am proud and honoured that you and Tony admire my work. I am also happy to know you both as cyber friends.

I live in a city called Norwich  (google it !) and though we maybe many miles apart you and Tony will always be close to my heart

Peace and joy

Martin Luther King Jr., Medgar Evers, Thurgood Marshall, Rosa Parks and Mother Tersea (just to name a few)...all were big movers and shakers in the Civil Rights Movement, Kieran. They, along with the subject of your piece, Winnie Mandela, made this world a much better place in which to live.
Her warming presence will be sorely missed.
This is a well written tribute to a lovely lady with a heart of gold and a soul to match.
