Winter Visitor

Winter Visitor

I always feel like winter arrives when we see you

With your pure white tiny face

 And your constantly bobbing tail

Sitting on our slate grey slanted roof this morning

While people make their way to the Church or maybe the pub

A definite nip in the air

You standing there on your spindly legs

Soon you will be hunting for the seed we throw

 Or the bread.

As you did last winter with the snow lying deep in the garden.

For now you just nod your way around our little lawn

Along the old brick wall and to the Acer

Chatting with the Chaffinches and the Robins

Singing beneath a clear blue sky.
