Winter's Rose

Winter's Rose

Coldly I traversed the icy

road to a warmer solace

Minding each and every step

on treacherous ground

Giving ear and clear

attention to the wintry

sounds which faintly

compare to the sounds of

blossomed summer

The dainty song of a robin

The mock of crows

The impervious flaunting

That a raven shows

Then a familiar sound struck

me fervently and soft

A song that sent me aloft

Bringing my senses to that

warmer solace

A song that we once danced

to by candlelight and roses

In the midst of thatΒ

nostalgic dreaming

My heart acquired

streaming

through the cold and ice

Then I espied a lonely rose

Planted firmly and morose

In a polar storm

Yet my heart was warm

Your memory may be a

winter's rose

But, now warm solace is in
