Poem -

WITH A LITTLE LUCK

The love I could not expressĀ

Haunted me for many yearsĀ

A sorrowful heart I nurturedĀ

My cheeks stained with tearsĀ

Unworthy as I may of beenĀ

This love of mine was genuine

It was sincereĀ

Like choice roses selected for a QueenĀ

The love I had for youĀ

Was not a figment of my imaginationĀ

Neither was it a dreamĀ

But prejudice mindsĀ

Poisoned your heartĀ

Striking a deadly blow at something gloriousĀ

Killing it before it start

Now with unwavering hopeĀ

I look beyond this space and timeĀ

To a place where our love could blossomĀ

A world without prejudicesĀ

Where the color of a man's skinĀ

Is not a crime.
